Kentuck Knob
Only ten miles southwest of his most recognized home in Pennsylvania, Kentuck Knob is better known as the “Child of Fallingwater.” It lays perfectly hidden within its beautiful surroundings focusing on Wright’s ability to blend nature and architecture together. The home itself can be considered as an example of all the elements that encapsulates Wright’s accomplishments during his seventy year career.
Located in the rural Kentuck District of Stewart Township, Fayette County, Kentuck Knob currently belongs to Great Britain’s Lord and Lady Palumbo. It was commissioned in 1953 and completed by 1956 for the Hagan family of Uniontown. Pennsylvania. The design concept of the house is based on Wright’s “Usonian” model, which inspired a new stylized way of small house construction. The house’s use of gravity floor heating, kitchen space, and collection of contemporary sculpture are must-see features. Not to mention, floor-to-ceiling windows give the house an amazing view to the wonderful landscaping and tranquil nature outside.
Kentuck Knob is just seven miles from Fallingwater on Kentuck Road off of U.S. Route 40. Tour options of the house are also available. For more information, please call (724) 329-1901 or visit http://www.kentuckknob.com for the most current rates and information.
